Retractible awning - good investment?

March 24th, 2009
florida9103 asked:

We live in the pacific northwest and considering our options for covering our patio. Since it rains here half the year and we still like to bbq - we need to find a way to enjoy our patio when it’s raining. Are there any other options besides awning that would be good? Or is awning a good investment?

Your Asking Me? asked:

Now that spring is here we plan to rake our yard first of all…..And when we’re done it WILL be mostly dirt. We’ll level it, and then….What should our next step be? What do we put down first and when can we do it? Then what? We heard you have to do it in levels and gradual…By starting with some crab grass….Then the seed we want for our beautiful lawn. But what do we use first, and in what order and when do we use it? Such as seed, fertilizers…water of course…grass seed…..Please help us out here. We spent a good part of last summer putting in a new patio to eleminate some of the yard…grass. Then we got an awning up. We even put up a fence. NOW we need to consentrate on the lawn. appreciate your help, advice and pointers. Thank you.

Why would a new breeding house finch couple, start to build their new nest & then all of a sudden stop & leave

January 5th, 2009
lu asked:

House finches were just starting to build their new nest under our patio awning for a few hours or so, then all of a sudden they left & never returned to complete the nest !!!!
So, why does this or could this happen?

I went outside into the back patio 1 time, but didn’t know the birds were underneath the patio awning at the time.

After that, they never returned. I’m just curious & wondering, that’s all.

We’ve had 2 previous nests built under the patio, & nothing scard them off. Even if we went into the patio, once in a while.?

KEEP IT CLEAN PLZ!
Tell me why you like that sound.

I like when I wear high heel shoes, something I dont get to do very often. I love the click of high heels, it makes me feel feminine and pretty.

I also LOVE the sound of rain hitting my grandmothers metal awning over her back patio, it makes me so drowsy.
